I remember Stuart (Wilkie) speaking fondly of Mr. John. He seemed to love his personality and I like to think that he was there to welcome him home. My condolences to his family and I hate that I never had the privilege of meeting him in person. All the best.

Just a quick note of condolence to Chrissy and Liza: I'll always remember your dad fondly as part of the old 18th Street gang; was very sorry to hear of his passing.

I met John through the legal world and he became a good friend. Through John's daughter I received a Kansas U. T-shirt. John was a really good person- affable and always willing to lend a hand to those who needed his help. I have not seen John for a long time but I will never forget his friendship in our early lives.

Q: How did you meet John?
A: John and I became friends when we studied together for the bar exam during the summer of 1977. We lived near each other during our early years in practice,, and socialized with our wives (and John’s children). John and I shared a hairdresser — something important to him. He had a great sense of humor, and often had a sly grin and laugh. And, as the obituary says, John was a relentless advocate for his clients. May he rest in peace, and God’s perpetual light shine upon him.

I first met John working for Bruce Hudson many years ago, what a friendly lovable guy! I would run into him on and off for years and we shared dinners at DE Park and he and Bruce would come to my home for dinner. Missed him when he moved away! RIP John!

Q: What will you never forget about John?
A: John was a very empathetic caring person! As a long time family friend, he was always quick with a funny remark on the signs of the times.
When our first born son passed away due to birth complications, he wrote a very caring 2-3 page letter expressing his sympathy in which my wife and I found strength to get through our grief.
I’ll never forget sailing expeditions on the Chesapeake Bay and his famous mozzarella cheese and tomato snacks.
He will be missed and our deepest sympathy for his family

John and I took the Delaware bar exam together in 1979 and we both then started private law practices representing real people instead of corporations. As best friends we celebrated many good times and commiserated during the bad times.
We were an odd couple. Me from a Sussex County farm and John from the Big Apple. Must be true that opposites attract.
In the dictionary, there should be a picture of John beside the definition of “loyal”. I’m still expecting a phone call with that familiar greeting “Little Brucie how are you doing?”.
Rest in peace, Big John.
Bruce

I met John, as many other truly extraordinary people, men and lawyers, through Melanie Sharp. Their mutual affection, professional respect and compatibility with regard to the law made it refreshing and honorable to work with them both. In turn, while having an extraordinarily good nature and easy sense of humor, John showed me a great deal of respect while we worked together on time-sensitive and sometimes thorny but meaningful - always meaningful - work. He trusted me. Wilmington has lost something special.

With Deepest Sympathy to John's daughters and their families. He was my husband's lawyer before we moved to Virginia in 2007. The memory I will always remember is when he moved his father to a nursing home and had to go there because his father was pinching the help. That was an old Italian custom for me to pinch the ladies. Rest in Peace in Peace John there aren't many of us left. Pat Battaglia (Vincenzo)

John was the alphabet city section of Manhatten when he joined Bader Dorsey and Kreshtool as clerk! We shared stories of manhatten and growing up in the city! We had fun during his years in Wilminton and enjoyed eating and drinking at Kid Shelleins! We kept in touch until his move to West Virginia. He is in my mind a friend and fun person! He and my wife, Mary, talked about KU and Kansas! He will always live on in my memory!
