Obituary of Edith Ann Gibson
Please share a memory of Edith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edith Ann (Edie) Gibson, age 65, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour early Friday, August 16, 2024 surrounded by her caring family. She was the proud wife of Aaron L Gibson. They lovingly enjoyed 39 happy years together.
Edie grew up in Star City, the daughter Betty McRobie and Howard (Buster) Rowan and the stepdaughter of William (Bill) McRobie, all of whom predeceased her.
Edie loved her family, her home and especially the Lord. She loved to spend time with Aaron at their summer place along the Cheat River, kayaking and taking pictures of God's beautiful creations. She loved reading and studying her Bible, going to Church, and raising a garden at their small farm. Edie liked to spend time in her kitchen baking her delicious cookies, pies, and cakes. At Christmas time she would fill many trays with cookies and deliver them to friends, family and neighbors. Those who didn't get to know Edie missed a great blessing!
She retired from Mylan after being employed there for more than 35 years.
She is survived by her loving husband Aaron who has been her best friend and confidant during her lengthy struggle with cancer. She loved and shared many happy years growing up with her five siblings who survive: Tom (Peggy) Rowan, John (Lena) Rowan, Kathy Rowan all of Morgantown; Ernie (Bonnie) Rowan of Tunnelton, and Rose (Dr. Richard) McCartney of Ohio.
Also surviving are her mother-in-law Thelma Gibson with whom she shared a deep respect and Motherly love; her sister-in-law Sharon (Frank) Dewitt; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to WVU Hospice for their excellent care.
Friends and family will be received at Morgantown Bible Church, 1407 Brookhaven Rd. on Tuesday, August 27th from 6PM until the time of the memorial service at 7PM, with Pastor Jim Cooley officiating.
Hastings Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation arrangements and condolences may be sent to the family online at www.hastingsfuneralhome.com
