Betty Miller posted a condolence
Saturday, October 19, 2024
My name is Betty Ullery Miller. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. King. Dr. King saved the lives of many family members, as well as the life of my son and my life, too.
I love to do genealogy and after his retirement I found out that Dr. King was actually my 5th cousin, but I never saw him again to tell him. We were related through his grandmother, Ada Bell Cosner. Her great grandfather was Henry Cosner Sr. Henry's brother, Christian was my great-great grandfather. I think Dr. King would have found it interesting that we were related and our ancestors came from Grant County, WV.
RIP Dr. King, you were a wonderful man, fantastic doctor and I will be eternally grateful that I got to know you and you were my doctor, and saved my life and my sons.

I am extremely saddened by the passing of Roger King, whom I have considered my closest friend since we were children. However, I am glad that his physical and grieving pain and suffering have ceased and he is joining is wife, Debby, in paradise. Together, they will be their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, forever.
Roger and I met in 6th grade Sunday School. We were baptized by immersion during the same ceremony and were joined into membership in Wesley Methodist Church on the same day. We began ushering in church worship services together when we were 16 years old. We were Boy Scouts in the same Troop 41 and went to the 1953 jamboree in California together. We shared an early morning paper route (5:30-6:30 a.m.) before breakfast and school. We mowed lawns together in the summer. We worked for a florist shop delivering floral arrangements on holidays together. We were in the same schools from junior high school through high school, undergraduate university and medical school at West Virginia University. We studied college physics on my front porch while attending summer school. We both became medical doctors, but in different specialties. Roger was best man at my wedding. We were like brothers for many, many years. I will miss him so very much.
I will keep Roger's family and friends in my prayers during this time of mourning and celebration of his life well lived.

I am so incredibly sorry to learn of Dr. King’s passing. I first met Dr. King in the 1990s when my father was a patient of his. Dad would travel from Elkins WV to see Dr. King and absolutely thought the world of him. When it came time for my first surgical procedure, I chose Dr. King, expressly because of the skilled and compassionate care he provided for my father. He was all business in the office during consultations, with the sweetest bed side manner when he met with you in pre-op. A nurse at Mon General told me once, “Dr. King runs a tight ship around here and his surgeries are always on time.” I always felt completely safe in his competent hands, and any pre surgery anxieties would melt away. Calm, steady, and always reassuring. Thank you Dr. King, for a lifetime of service to our community and your fellow veterans.
