Obituary of Jackline Lee Howenstein

Jackline Lee (McDonald) Howenstein, 82 of Star City, WV, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, peacefully at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Jackie was born on July 21, 1942 in Dellslow, WV to the late Richard and Madeline McDonald.
She married the love of her life, Johnnie Howenstein on February 20, 1960. They were married 54 years until the time of his passing.
She was a woman of faith and attended Pentecostal churches. Her biggest enjoyment was spending time with her family, baking, and crocheting and quilting.
Surviving are her children, son, John (Belinda) Howenstein of Morgantown, WV; daughter, Tammy Howenstein of Morgantown, WV; grandchildren, Chris (Sharah) of Martinsburg, WV; John Howenstein Jr. of Morgantown, WV, Ashley Morgan of Morgantown, WV, Brittany Howenstein (Michael) Bettinger of Fairmont, WV, Amber Morgan of Seattle, WA, and Clarissa Howenstein (Gavin) of Morgantown , WV; and two great grandchild, Kasey Mason of Morgantown , WV and Mackenzie O'Neil, as well as Malakai Palmer, Gage Abel, Lacey Maiden, and Olivia Maiden whom she considered to be like grandchildren.
She is also survived by her boyfriend, Ronnie Hernandez of Morgantown , WV, and her fur babies, Rocky and Lucky; siblings, Cheryl (Duane) Lane, Shena (Rick) Harsh, John (Carol) McDonald, Janet (Paul) Powell, Randy McDonald, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Johnnie Howenstein; son, Steve Howenstein; brothers, Richard McDonald, Eugene McDonald, Holbert McDonald; sisters, Shirley, Sally Cobb, Sue Sites, and Barbara Buseman.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tammy Hilling for the amazing care and support of the last year, as well as Amedisys Hospice for their wonderful care over the last several months.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jackie’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, 835 E Carson St Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Friday, November 22nd from 2PM-4PM and again from 6PM-8PM. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, November 23rd at 10AM, with Pastor Jason Sheffstall officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
