Mary Ann (Polly) Gray Plummer passed away January 24, 2025, at Mon General Hospital. She was born July 23, 1946, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the oldest of five daughters of the late Warren E. & Mary B. Gray. Raised in Highland Park, New Jersey, and Greencastle, Pennsylvania, she was a graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from West Virginia University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. While at WVU she met and married Ralph W. Plummer of Martinsburg, West Virginia. They were married for 59 years. Polly was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and was very active in the Morgantown community. She was a life member of the Service League of Morgantown and the WVU Alumni Association. Polly was a past president of Chapter B of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and served as State President of the West Virginia Chapter in 2008-9; Past Matron of Morgantown Chapter No 35, Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Order of the Amaranth. Over the years, Polly was an involved volunteer in many organizations, including the Girl Scouts as a troop leader, basketball and MHS band parents, and as Mother Advisor and State Director for the West Virginia International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Ralph Plummer; by their daughter and son-in-law, Fran and Chuck Lemley; two sisters, Carol Hess and Margaret Lichtblau; two brothers-in-law Bob Moreno and David Forbush; nieces and nephews, Heather and Jim Hook, Robert and Stephanie Moreno, and Raleigh Moreno; one aunt, Donna Gray; great nephews, David, Daniel and Simon Moreno and great niece, Rebekah Moreno; honorary family Tracy, Kurt, Faith and Will Hammerbeck and numerous cousins and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Gray and Barbara Gray Moreno, brothers-in-law Russ Hess and Kirk Lichtblau, special aunt Caroline Bieber and her parents-in law Ralph and Frances Plummer, sister-in-law Jeanne Forbush and several aunts, uncles and cousins. In accordance with her wishes, Polly will be cremated and a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, February 8th at Wesley United Methodist Church, 503 N High St, Morgantown, with visitation from 11am until the time of the memorial service at 1pm with Rev. Martha Ognibene officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the education projects of the PEO Sisterhood through Chapter B of Morgantown c/o Gail Truman, President 32 West Street, Morgantown, WV 26501.
