Obituary of Patrick Eugene Vavrock

Patrick Eugene Vavrock, 72, of Morgantown, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025.

Patrick was born on February 9, 1953, the son of the late Bernard and Nancy Vavrock. He was raised as one of seven children in the town of McMechen, WV and later moved his young family to Morgantown, WV to work for Consolidation Coal Company. When his career in the coal industry ended, he attended Fairmont State University where he earned degrees in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management. He then accepted a management role with West Virginia University Dining Services from which he retired in 2018.

Patrick exuded an unwavering work ethic and loyalty to his family. He was an artist to gift his works to those he loved. He was a builder, a chef, a collector, and a gardener. Above all, he was a selfless and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Patrick is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Jude Vavrock; three daughters, Valerie Vavrock, Angela Vavrock, and Elizabeth Vavrock; and four grandchildren, Breanna Everett, Sophie Vavrock, Jude Anthony Vavrock, and Evelyn Kehoe. In addition, he is survived by three brothers, three sisters, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
