Regis Ernest Kobert, 77, of Cheat Lake, WV, Pittsburgh, PA and Juno Beach, FL passed away at the home of his 25-year companion Betty Puskar and their grandson, Kyle Milan Pratt on Monday, February 22, 2016 following an 18 -month battle with colon cancer. He was born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania on June 15, 1938 the son of the late Ernest and Helen Polosky Kobert. He graduated from the St. Genevieve Catholic School and Canonsburg High School, during which time he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and received the prestigious Eagle Scout Award. Following that he received degrees in metallurgy and business by attending night school courses at local Pittsburgh institutions of higher education. He served in the US Army as part of the Pennsylvania National Guard in Canonsburg. In addition to Betty Puskar and Kyle Milan Pratt, he is survived by his sister, Janice Terling of Canonsburg; two brothers, Wayne Kobert of Erie PA; and David Kobert, of Canonsburg. Also surviving are nephews and nieces Fred Terling, Noel Briceland, Sean Terling, Melissa Kobert, Steve Kobert, Jarred Kobert, Helaina Teahan. He was preceded in death by one niece, Lesley Weyant. He was a career Banker, entering the profession at Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh and advancing through progressively responsible positions with Mellon, Nations Bank and Bank of America. Upon his retirement as Vice-President of Commercial Lending and Leasing from Bank of America he founded Grandview Capital Corporation in Pittsburgh Regis had a broad range of interests. He enjoyed fishing & hunting, gardening & cooking and skiing & ski-patrolling. He was a fervent Pittsburgh Steelers Fan Regis attended St. Luke’s Catholic Church at Cheat Lake and was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Canonsburg. In keeping with his wishes, cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Saturday, February 27th from 1 PM until the time of the memorial service at 3:00 PM with Father Carlos L. Melocoton, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Gastrointestinal Cancer Programs at either The Foundation of Monongalia General Hospital, 1200 JD Anderson Drive, Morgantown, WV 26505 or the West Virginia University Cancer Institute, PO Box 9300, Morgantown, WV 26506.
