Helen Ruth Alexander Shearer, 93 years of age, of Morgantown peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, July 22, 2016. God was good to her and she was good to God; a great ambassador for Him. She is the daughter of the late Mike Alexander and Martha Peters Alexander. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. To all who knew her, she was kind hearted, loving, and a friend. She spent over 30 years managing the Hotel Morgan. During that time she also worked alongside her sister, Patty Jo, making weddings and banquets very special for everyone. She will be remembered for her elegance and her pure heart. She only saw the best in everyone. She is survived by five children, two sons: Dan L. (Stacy) Shearer and Monte (Jennifer) Shearer; three daughters: Michelle (Frank) Dippel, Kandale (Larry) Hoover, and Venetia (Ahmad) Abulaban, and; 9 grandsons: Dan Shearer IV, Kody Shearer, Monte (Jennifer) Shearer II, William “Dee” (Sheena) Dippel, Lance (Sara) Hoover, Luke Hoover, Mohammed Abulaban, Rajab Abulaban, Bassam Abulaban; four granddaughters: Terri Shearer (Eric) Pryor, Christina (Orin) Tonemah, Misty (Tim) Dippel-Costello, Sommer Abulaban; eight great-grandsons: Dan Shearer V, Xavier Pryor, Christopher Shearer, Henry Dippel, Austin Costello, Blake Barkley, Keigan Hoover, and Melek Abulaban; six great-granddaughters: Sydney Shearer, Sierra Pryor, Gabrielle Shearer, Addison Shearer, Emarie Dippel, and Jordan Beth Hoover; four siblings; Emil Alexander, Marguerite Reiner, Dolores Solomon, and Patty Liberatore. Helen also leaves her very special “Hotel Morgan Family” of Rich and Jennifer Brant, Kitty Brant, Jack Collins, Mark Skidmore, nephew David Liberatore, and sister Patty Liberatore. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dan L. Shearer, Jr., and 4 siblings: George Alexander, John Alexander, Emma Angotti, and Mary Deaton; one granddaughter, Ryedale Hoover. The family will receive friends at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Star City, WV, Sunday July 24th from 3 to 8 p.m. Scriptural wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday July 25th from 9 to 11am, the time of the Mass of Christian burial with Father John V. DiBacco celebrant. Burial will follow at Forks of Cheat Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in memory of “Helen Alexander Shearer” to WVU Medicine Children’s at PO Box 8200, (ROCII) Morgantown, WV 26505. “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
