Obituary of Charles Leroy Scott Jr.

Charles "Charlie" Leroy Scott, Jr, 89, of Westover, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023 at his residence. He was born July 15, 1934 in Morgantown, the son of the late Charles Leroy and Mildred Blanche (Sheets) Scott. Charlie was a US Army veteran and an owner/operator of Robert Scott & Son Trucking, and also worked for King Knob Coal Company. Charlie enjoyed listening to music, riding his side by side, his flowers, and especially loved vacationing in Cancun, Mexico. Charlie is survived by his two children; Joyce Core and husband Scott, and Rob Scott and wife Judy; grandchildren, Cody Scott, Scottie Core, and Morgan Scott; one great granddaughter, Renley Scott; as well as a brother, Raymond Scott. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Scott; and siblings Jean Eisentrout, John Lloyd Brown, Roger Scott, and Wayne Scott. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Friday, October 13th from 4-9 PM and again on Saturday, October 14th from 11 AM until the time of the funeral at 1:00 PM with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Interment will take place at Nicholson Cemetery with full military rites being conducted by the VFW Post #9916, #548, and the United States Army.
