Arthur Boyd Freed, 82, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6. 2012. He was surrounded by his loving family when he went to be with the Lord. He was born Dec. 13, 1929 in Morgantown to Homer Shelton and Lotta Maud (Bower) Freed. He was retired as manager of Schultz Machine Shop. He previously was employed by Pressed Prism Glass Factory, Sterling faucet and Hall and Pigot Machine Shop. He was a toll and die maker by trade, but was proficient at masonry, plumbing, carpentry and electrical work. In 1950 he built his own home on Goshen Road where he lived for 62 years.Boyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the mountaineers and sitting in his recliner spoiling his cat Killer. Aside from family activities, he loved to work. He helped several neighbors build or repair homes. He was a member of Goshen Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He had a wonderful sense of humor, which he displayed with his family right up to the time he died.He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann (Howell) Freed and sister Aletha Fields. Boyd is survived by his son Gary Freed and wife Genny daughter Kimberly Linderman and her husband Paul all of Morgantown Daughter Debra and Mark Ely of Uniontown, OH. He is also survived by his sister Jean Carr and husband John of New Martinsville, WV. Grandchildren, Don ( Adrian) Olmstead, Amy Hibbs, Dr. Brian and wife Melissa Ely, Sarah Ely, Katie Linderman and Andrew Linderman, all of Morgantown, and Rachel and her husband Justin Flemin g of Winston-Salem, NC. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildredn and several brother-in- laws and sister-in-laws that he enjoyed greatly. Friends and Family will be received from 2-4pm and from 7-9pm Saturday, Dec. 8th at Hastings Funeral Home 153 Spruce St, Morgantown. The service will be held at 2pm Sunday, Dec. 9th with visitation on ehour prio to the service at Goshen Baptist Church with Pastor. Dan Meadows officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Goshen Baptist Church Building Fund, 1070 Goshen Rd. Morgantown, WV 26508.
