Dear Franklin Family, With the announcement of CRI's 2015 Pat Franklin Courageous Spirit Award, I wanted to leave a note on this website. I worked with Pat closely on bottle bill issues in Massachusetts for many years, and always found her to be a gentle soul with a fierce spirit for the good. Dear Franklin Family,I taught at McLean High School and worked with Pat in the mid-80's with my Government 12 students. We went to the Board of Supervisors meetings in Fairfax and to the General Assembly in Richmond to lobby for container recycling. Although we were often greeted by bad jokes and smirks, Pat pressed on in her efforts.I was so impressed by her convictions and have often thought of her as we have moved into a "recycling society." She was clearly one of the "founding mothers" of that effort.My condolences to all of you,Melanie Biermann

Dear Jay and Kim...you have both been in our prayers and we have been holding you and Pat so very close. We have placed the beautiful new photo of Devin Michelle and Cedar on our fridge with a photo of Pat overlapping and along side it to watch over them and you and your whole family. Sounds like we wil see you soon Jay for the fire up here for which I am grateful. And Kim until we see you in person know you are so very loved by this Berkshire family.
