Mike Glagola, 90, of Morgantown, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Morgantown with his loving wife at his side. He was born August 5, 1922, in Whitsette, PA, a son of the late John and Mary Homa Glagola. Mike was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II. He retired as a mining superintendent from the National Steel Corp. in Isabella, PA in 1987. He belonged to the UMWA and the Knights of Columbus. He was a long time member of St. Maryâs Byzantine Catholic Church, where he had been very active in the church. He served on the advisory board and was an usher. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking he especially enjoyed building dog and bird houses. He was always ready to help family and friends with building projects. He enjoyed watching baseball and football and loved listening and dancing to Polka music. He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Medvick Glagola daughters, Jill Binotto and husband Phillip of Canonsburg, PA, Peni Hollenbaugh and husband Bob of Louisville, KY, his son, Michael âBob: Glagola and wife Doreen of Uniontown, PA, his step-daughter Kimberly Bosley of New York, his special granddaughter, Kristen Ealy and grandson, Michael Gordan, his sister, Helen Zapatosky of Brownsville, PA, two very special nieces, and several nieces and nephews, three step-grandchildren, Missey, Carrie and Rob and 7 step- great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John, James, Joseph and William Glagola, sisters, Ann Fidnarik and Mary Stefanko, an infant son, Wesley Thomas and his faithful companions JT and Marmaduke. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 4-8pm on Monday, August 27. A Parastas service will be held at 7:30pm to conclude the evening visitation. The Celebration of the Divine Liturgy will be held at 11am on Tuesday, August 28, at St. Maryâs Byzantine Catholic Church, 2115 Listravia Ave., Morgantown with Father Michael Hustzi as Celebrant.
