Obituary of Lillian Sterbutzel

Lillian Esther Nairn Sterbutzel, 98, of Morgantown passed away July 7, 2012, at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville, TN. She had resided at The Village at Heritage Point for several years. Lillian was born February 2, 1914, in West Newton, PA, the daughter of the late William and Valentina Nairn.Lillian was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church and taught school for many years in West Virginia and Pennsylvania before retiring in 1974. She enjoyed cooking for her large family, drawing and painting, sewing and taking care of the many flowers she had in her flower garden. She is survived by her five children Bill Sterbutzel and wife Helen of Hartselle, AL, Paul Sterbutzel and wife Jeanette of McLean, VA, Mel Sterbutzel and wife Marty of Morgantown, Ann Sterbutzel Hash of Knoxville, TN and Joe Sterbutzel and wife Diane of Vienna, VA, 49 grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Jean Crist of York, PA and Betty Houston of York, PA and brothers Regis Nairn of Glendale, AZ and Jack Nairn of NJ as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Melchior Andrew Sterbutzel in 1972, brother Bill Nairn, sisters Ann McGinity and Mary Jo Sheehan. Family and friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 5-7pm on Thursday, July 12. There will also be visitation on Friday, July 13, from 9am until the 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke Catholic Church in Cheat Lake. Interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery in Uniontown, PA.
