More than anything else, she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, Jared, Jessica, and Deanna, as well as her great-grand daughter Gabriella, who was the joy of her life. At the time of her death she had recently welcomed two new great-grand children, Brayden and Brylee Palko.Barbara was also deeply committed to preserving the traditions of her Italian heritage, observing the Christmas Eve celebration of âLa Vigilia,â the Feast of Seven Fishes, which represents the seven holy sacraments in the Catholic faith. She passed those traditions on to her family, who will continue to honor her legacy by continuing those traditions. She is survived by a daughter, Andrea Soccorsi, of Morgantown and son Lewis Soccorsi and partner Lisa Pessa, both of Morgantown, two grand-daughters, Jessica Soccorsi of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Deanna Soccorsi Palko of Morgantown, two great-granddaughters, Gabriella Johnson and Bylee Palko, of Morgantown and great grandson Brayden, also of Morgantown. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul in 2001, and grandson Jared in 2005.The family would like to thank Mon General Hospital, particularly Dr. Sanjay Bharti and the nursing staff of the 4th and 6th floors for their kindness, compassion, and professionalism in the care of their mother, as well as the staff of Madison Center, particularly Frank, Jodi, Larry, and Gloria.Friends will be received at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, One Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, on Monday, July 2 from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. On Tuesday, July 3 visitation will continue in the church from 9:00am until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with Father John Dibacco as the celebrant.
