Robert Earl âBackwaterâ Martin, 66, of Morgan Hill Road, Cheat Lake, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at home.Robert was born in Oak Ridge, TN on September 21, 1945, the son of the late Robert Henry and Ernestine Crow Martin.He attended Covenant Baptist Church in Uniontown, PA. He retired as a pipefitter/welder for Local 152 of the Plumbers and Pipefitters. He was an avid hunter, was very proud of his membership in the local union, had a special place in his heart for all of his grandchildren and above all was a wonderful and loving husband. He is survived by his wife Debbie Martin, a son, Andrew Slaughter and wife Pamela of Morgantown, a daughter Katie Erin Martin of WI, 5 grandchildren Liam, Elizabeth, Anna, Katie and Ally, brothers, Joseph Henry Tucker, Jr. and wife Sue of Ocala, FL and Larry R. âSlide: Martin of Cheat Neck, several nieces and nephews and a special friend from the military who he recently reconnected with, Gary Roadhouse. Family and friends will be received at Fletcher Cemetery, Morgan Run Road off Fairchance Rd., Cheat Lake on Saturday, April 14, from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am with Rev. Ed Burnette and Rev. Michael Rowe officiating. In lieu of flowers, to assist with the future upkeep of Fletcher Cemetery, Mr. Martin has requested contributions in his name please be made to Cheat Lake United Methodist Church, C/O Margie Hare, 777 Fairchance Road, Morgantown, WV 26508
