Obituary of Virginia DeCarlo

Virginia DeCarlo of Morgantown, W.Va., widow of Angelo DeCarlo, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Virginia was born in Morgantown on April 21, 1924, the daughter of the late Charles and Stella Pizzutto Andy. Virginia is survived by two daughters, Janet Howat of Morgantown and Angela Robertson and husband, John, of Surrey, England five grandsons, Ian and Andrew Robertson of Surrey, England, James Robertson and wife, Shirin, of Brussels, Belgium, Chris Howat and wife, Amy, of Hurricane, W.Va., and Scott Howat and wife, Carrie, of Mesa, Ariz. five great-grandchildren, Abigail and Jonathan Howat of Hurricane, Matthew and Morgan Howat of Mesa, and Amelie Robertson of Brussels two sisters, Mafalda Fraley of Morgantown and Amelia Allison of Coral Springs, Fla. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Andy and sisters Clara Andy, Jean Dooley, Josephine Davis and Mary Newbraugh. Virginia was a long-time member of St. Maryâs Roman Catholic Church and volunteered for many years with the Friends of WVU Hospitals. She enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and cooking shows. She liked visiting and socializing with friends, including neighbors from Bellaire Drive and, later, Heritage Point. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who delighted in watching her grandsons play sports and took pride in their accomplishments as they grew, and loved visits from her great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Star City, W.Va., on Monday, March 12, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. & 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, March 13, from 11 a.m. to noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday in the church, with Father John V. DiBacco as Celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Peace Garden Mausoleum. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held on Monday, at 8:30 pm at the church. Donations may be made in Virginiaâs memory to St. Mary's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 4204, Star City, WV 26504.
