Bernard Russell King, 81, of Lower Aarons Creek Road, Morgantown, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.He was born on May 19, 1930, in Youngstown, OH, the son of the late, Charles King, Sr. and Catherine Blizzard King. Bernard attended Mountain Chapel Church where he was a deacon. He served in the 82nd Air Calvary with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He attained rank of Corporal and 5 bronze stars. He worked for several mines in the area, the last being Pittsburgh Coal Works in Monongah where he was a boss. He enjoyed watching TV, liked westerns, working on small engines, tinkering around the house, working on his bobcat, cooking, loved pulling pranks on his family and friends and spending time with his cat Tom. He was a hard worker and provided well for his family. He was the best husband, father and grandfather anyone could ask for. Bernard is survived by his sons and their spouses Bernard Jr. and Linda King, Mike and Merlene King and a daughter and her spouse, Gale and Russell Wilson all of Morgantown, 5 grandchildren, John Wilson, Lora Woody, Misty McVicker and Trina Britton all of Morgantown and Jamie Herron of Lancaster, PA, two great-grandchildren, Elias Morrow and Vandon Woody, step grandchildren, Michael Britton, Tony Britton, Marcey Hughes, Andrea Beckman and Angela Casino. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles King, Jr. and wife Laura of Keyser and Jim King and wife Marsha of Wenathee, WA, and a sister, Reeva Shirley of Keyser, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55years, Betty Nestor King, a daughter, Diane McVicker, a granddaughter, Karrie Ann McVicker, Friends will be received at Nicholson Chapel Church, from 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, until the time of the funeral service on Wednesday, March 7 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Damon Nicholson officiating. Interment will follow at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery. Hastings Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
