(Dear Eric, Kenny, Saralouise and all the family, When I think of the 40 years that Zelda has been my friend ..going back to her encouraging me to join the womens auxillary board of Mon.General Hospital in the early 1970''''''''s, right thru to these past 7 or 8 years when she joined a group of tennis pal''''''''s and we had "lunch together 4 or more times each year "just to keep in touch"! (her words..lovely!) And my special joy when she and Saralouise came to Marilla tennis courts for tennis lessons..1975! I so enjoyed working with both women but of course Zelda, right from the start had natural ground strokes and I thought she would really be a strong player if she had the time to put into the game. (she was on 4 Boards at the time i believe!!) Saralouise was (and is) a sweetie and was quick to learn the game and the two practiced between lessons and told me this..only ones who regularly spoke of their practice sessions which is wonderful to hear when you are the coach. Yes our Zelda was a "follow thru" (just like the ground stroke) kind of gal!!We have seen this in all she has done in her life. We are proud to have known her and to have called her our friend. Sent with love to you all, Beverly Shumaker

I knew Zelda through my late mother Martha Phillips Hupp. They both worked extensively together as voluteers-and donors-at the Hospital. One evening (c. 2004) we had a small dinner party at Heritage Point which Zelda attended. She so enjoyed and delighted in the Tim Janis "Beautiful America" DVD concert after dinner. She really did love the creative music and photography in that production. As Mother declined, Zelda would vist her at the Assisted Living unit. Zelda stayed for the entire viewing at Hastings to comfort us-Martha's children-when Mother passed in 2006.Zelda was a most kind and gracious ladyfrom an different, more genteel era.She will be remembered in this way.

I remember your mother from Royal Furniture and Ethan Allen Gallery. When I met her again at Mon General, she had not changed. She had the same inspiration, the same "you can do it" encouragement to everyone around her. She lifted people up emotionally, spiritually. Her health programs were/are a more outward reach of her concern and love for people and finding answers. Her energy level was amazing. She will always be remembered by so many. I will always remember her for her kindness, encouragement, accountability and reliability. She also had a wonderful sense of humor. She was true to her faith.

To Rick, Ken, and all the Weiss family: We Fieldses have always felt kind of "joined at the hip" with the Steins. Howard and Zelda were Mother and Dad's best friends in Morgantown, and whenever we came back to town, it was always to see the Weisses. Time is separating us, now, more than ever, but we still have our memories and our friendship. Our prayers are always you. Mother isn't computer wise, but I'll try to get her here, or get something from her for the book. I'm really sorry this was the cause of our renewed communication.Fred Fields (Irene too)

Rick and KenI deeply regret that it is not possible to be in Morgantown to see you and more important to celebrate the life of your mother. While I knew her as a teenager years ago, it was not until I came back to Morgantown years later that I knew her as Zelda. It was then through Al and Dee Ware that I really got to know her.My wife and I now live in Kissimmee, Florida. It is for that reason that I cannot be present in Morgantown to tell you how much your mother meant to me.Your mother was a special person
