Obituary of Patsy Palmieri

Patsy Palmieri, 90, of Westover, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Louis A. Jonson V.A. Medical Center in Clarksburg. Patsy was born in Clarksburg, WV, on May 28, 1921, the son of the late Angelo and Isabella (Loretta)Palmieri. He was a member of St. Maryâs Catholic Church. Patsy served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was captured and held as a prisoner of war during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a coal miner for many years working for Christopher Coal Company, Number 3, Osage, WV. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Virginia Palmieri, his daughter, Jeannette Whiting and her husband, Robert of San Antonio, Texas, and his grandchildren, Justin, Lesley, and Robert. Patsy is also survived by his brothers Louie, Jim, George, and John Palmieri, in Maryland, and sister Rose Haynes of Dallas, Texas. Brothers Samuel and Frank Palmieri preceded him in death. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, February 1. Visitation will continue at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Star City, on Thursday, February 2, from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial with Father John V. Di Bacco officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown.
