Obituary of Loretta Sorenson

Loretta Shirley Sorenson, 75, passed away on November 17, 2011, with members of her family by her side. She was born in Wells, Minnesota, the youngest of 8 children of William and Elsie Treptow. She worked in the school library and graduated from Wells High School in 1954. She attended Austin Junior College, Austin, MN, 1954-1955. She was married in Wells to William G. Sorenson on September 7, 1957. She worked as a secretary at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, she operated her own typing business in Iowa City and later in Norman, Oklahoma she worked at Eastern Enterprises in Morgantown and was office manager for Laborers Local 814 in Morgantown until she retired recently. She loved books and libraries and worked as a volunteer for the Friends of the Morgantown Public Library for several years. She was also honored as an outstanding literacy volunteer. She is survived by her husband of 54 years William, four sons, Marshall, Winchester, VA, Erich, Morgantown, Matthew, Austin, Texas & Kelly, Marina, California and 9 grandchildren, Kristin, Jacob, Michael, Nicholas, Julia, Delaney, Elsie, Maverick and Owen. Loretta is survived by three brothers, Howard, Delavan, MN, Clifford & Gordon of Wells, two sisters, Marcella Garlow of Wells & Arvilla Kain of Minnesota Lake.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Treptow in infancy and Viola Dahlman one brother, Ralph Treptow.As per her request, cremation services were provided by Hastings Funeral Home. Friends will be received at St. Paulâs Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 309 Baldwin Street, Morgantown, Saturday, December 17, from 10:00 â" 12:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 12:00p.m. in the Sanctuary with Pastor Brian Bennett officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
