Charles âChuckâ Ernest Hollandsworth, III, 58, of Morgantown died peacefully on October 29, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. Chuck was born in Parkersburg, WV, December 27, 1952, son of the late Charles and Katherine Hollandsworth. He was a 1970 graduate of Morgantown High School. Chuck was a 1974 West Virginia University graduate in business and economics. Chuck was a member of the ROTC & Pershing Rifle Club at WVU. He received his Second Lieutenant commission in the US Army following graduation and was stationed in Fort Sill, OK and then stationed in Thessaloniki, Greece, where he married his wife, Glenda. In 1976, Chuck returned to the US and was stationed in Fort Riley, KS. In 1977, Chuck transferred to the US Army Reserve, and in 1978 Chuck and his family returned to Morgantown where he was employed as an accountant, and earned his CPA license. He was employed as a controller for a local drilling company for 18 years until he opened his own CPA practice in 2008. Chuck retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserves after 26 years of service.Chuck was active in the Morgantown Lions Club (received the man of the year award), the Beau Monde Dance Club (president and secretary), and the Elks. He was also active in the Monongalia/Preston County Chapter of the Reserve Officer Association where he served as president. Chuck was appointed to the first Mountaineer Parents Club for WVU School of Nursing serving 1997-1999. Chuck was appointed on the Region VI Planning Committee and the Monongalia County Commission Strategic Planning Committee. Chuck is survived by his wife of 36 years, Glenda Wallace Hollandsworth his daughters, Shelly Hollandsworth Glass and husband Albert of Garden Grove, CA, Angela Hollandsworth of Sterling, VA, Extended daughters Jessica Shockley Kimes and husband Charles of Kettering, OH, Moira Goff-Taylor and husband Robert of Gatherburg, MD, and Korinna Shaw of Philadelphia, PA grandchildren, Jordan Glass, Andrew Kimes, Benjamin and Finley Taylor, and Ayana and Athena Lemon his mother-in-law Betty Jenks Finley of Morgantown, WV his nephew Fredrick Anthony Vaglienti of Westover, WV his Aunt, Mary Redmond of Morgantown, WV, one niece Ashley Faulkner of Morgantown, WV, one brother â"in-law and wife Preston & Gayle Wallace of Tulsa Oklahoma, one sister-in-law Shirley Jernigan of Pampa, Texas. Chuck is also survived by a host of extended family members and close friends.He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Katherine Hollandsworth and his sister, Cynthia Hollandsworth Vaglienti.Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 3-5 and 7-9p.m. Words of Comfort will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 8:30p.m.with Rev. Al Cooper to conclude the evening visitation. Visitation will continue at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church on Thursday, Nov. 3, form 9-10a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00a.m. Thursday with V. Rev. Mark G. Ward CP, VF. as Celebrant.Donations may be made in Chuckâs memory to River Valley Chapter of American Red Cross, 1299 Pineview Drive, Morgantown, WV 26505.
