Glenn Benedict Cyphert, 87, of Finch Road, Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at his residence.Glenn was born in Masontown, WV on May 2, 1924, the son of the late Charles Cyphert and the late Anna Maude (Sloan) Cyphert.He was a member of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Cheat Lake. He was in World War II having served in the Army Air Corp in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He was a founder and partner of Charter Engineering Company in Westover. He retired to his farm where he enjoyed the hayfields and cattle. He was an avid flyer and owned an airplane which he kept at the Hart Airfield in Morgantown. He is survived by his wife Leonore V. Travinski Cyphert, his children Daniel P. Cyphert and wife, Sue of Terra Alta, Glenn Thomas Cyphert and wife, Diana of Morgantown, Mark F. Cyphert and wife, Lisa of Lake Lynn, Judy A. Scull and husband, George of Waynesburg, and George C. Cyphert and wife, Mary of Morgantown, nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Edward E. Cyphert and wife Patricia of Morgantown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary E. Bucklew and brothers, Charles C. Cyphert and James F. Cyphert. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 4-8pm on Friday, September 30, where the Holy Rosary will be recited at 5:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday, October 1, at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 19 Jo Glenn Dr., Cheat Lake from 9am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM with Rev. Vincent E. Joseph as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover where Full Military Honors will be accorded at the gravesite by members of VFW Post 548 and WVANG Military Funeral Honors Group, Camp Dawson, Kingwood, WV.
