James Howard Swain, 67, of Morgantown, formerly of Preston County, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011, at his residence.James was born in Baltimore on August 24, 1943, the son of the late Alfred W. Swain and Ida Jenkins Swain Carnes as well step-father Harry Carnes. He was Baptist by faith. He worked at Sanders Floor Covering for 20 years as a carpet installer. Prior to working at Sanders, he was employed by the City of Baltimore, MD as a Stationary Engineer. James enjoyed the outdoors and was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joy C. Boyd Swain, his daughters Tina A. Snider and husband Brian of Morgantown, Penny M. Drake and husband, Roy of Rivesville, and Holly Swain of Kingwood, also surviving is Joey Stepek, as well as 10 grandchildren, his brothers and sisters Arnold Swain and wife, Denice, Robert Swain, Joseph Swain, Cathy âSissyâ Price, Darlene Shuman and Hariett Carnes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Carol Albright of Kingwood. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 4-6pm on Tuesday, July 19. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 6pm with Rev. Dan Meadows officiating. Following the funeral services, Mr. Swainâs wishes for cremation will be honored by his family.
