Obituary of Galen Gauntlett

Galen James Gauntlett, 76, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Pleasant Acres Christian Home of Fairmont, WV.Galen was born in Pottsville, PA on June 12, 1935, a son of the late James F. and Sarah E. Kopp Gauntlett. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville, PA. He graduated from Pottsville High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. Galen retired in 1996 from Morgantown Energy Technology Center and worked part time at the WVU Employees Federal Credit Union from 1998-2009. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Pulaski 216, Pottsville, PA, a life member of Good Will Hose Co., Posstsville, PA, a member of the WV Bowlers Hall of Fame, past manager of Monongalia/Preston Co. Bowling Assoc. past Board of Director of WV Credit Union League and past Board of Director of Morgantown AES Federal Credit Union. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Wilma Elizabeth Lord Gauntlett whom he married November 28, 1970 two sisters, Ardis Marton and her husband Robert of Ligonier, PA and Carolyn Gauntlett of Pottsville, PA and a nephew, Mark Gauntlett of Pottsville, PA. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 5-8 PM Monday, June 20th.Mr. Gauntlett will then be transported to the Schlitzer, Allen and Pugh Funeral Home, corner of 6th and Market St., Pottsville PA, where visitation will continue on Wednesday, June 22nd from 10:30 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 AM with Pastor Harold Hand officiating. Interment will follow in the Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven, PA where full military honors will be accorded at the graveside.
