James Lee Gatian, 77, of Morgantown, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011, at Sundale Nursing Home. James was born in Morgantown on January 17, 1934, the son of the late James Lee and Daisy Pringle Gatian.He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean War. He was a city inspector for the City of Morgantown. Prior to that he was the owner and operator of Gatian Electric Service. He was a proud grandfather who enjoyed attending all of his grandchildrenâs activities. He is survived by his four children, Debra LaBoda and her husband, Keith of Winterhaven, FL, James Gatian and his wife, Kelli of Morgantown, Sherrie Brach of Mechanicsville, VA and Beth Nair and her husband, Greg of Morgantown and nine grandchildren, James IV and Katie Gatian, Jay and Kasey Brach, Meagan Mason and her husband, Bryan, Zachery and Molly Nair, and Brandon and Joshua Gatian. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Chipps Gatian, a son, Michael Wayne Gatian and a brother, William Gatian. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 4-8pm on Wednesday, June 8, and from 11am-1pm on Thursday, June 9. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 1pm with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover.
