Please share a memory of Edith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our Aunt, Edith Konchesky. Edith, 82, of Jacobs Drive, Morgantown, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 24, 2011 at Windy Hill Manor in Kigwood WV. Edith was born in Morgantown on November 28, 1928, the daughter of the late Adam Konchesky and Mary Scotchell Konchesky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Adam Konchesky Jr. Survivors include her brother Robert Konchesky of Morgantown nieces Shona Krolczyk and Ramie Friend both of Morgantown and Kim Corley & husbandMike, of Richmond, VA. Five great-nieces and nephews, including Josh, Emma and Noah Krolczyk, Dominique Friend and Jackie Corley. After briefly living in Pittsburgh, Pa, Edith resided in Morgantown, owning and operating Deeya's Beauty Shop for more than 35 years. During this time, she was considered to be a counselor, confidant, and best friend to many of her clients. Edith had a passion for good food and cooking. We all looked forward to her famous Sunday spaghetti dinners, or any other meal a family member requested. She enjoyed taking long walks with her great-nieces and nephews often seen pulling them through the neighborhood streets in a little green wagon. She was also an avid reader, willing to learn about new and intriguing aspects of life. Edith was gracious and kind, always thinking of others and their needs first. She had an undying love for her family, for which she spent her life caring for. We would like to thank the caregivers at Ruby Memorial Hospital's Observation Unit. Their acts of kindness, compassion and love you gave her will be forever in our hearts. At Edith's request, we are honoring her wishes for cremation. There will be no visitation or memorial service. Inurnment will take place next to her parents in East Oak Grove Cemetery at a future date. Hastings Funeral Home of Morgantown is in charge of the arrangements.
