Neil Franklin Shisler, 89, of Savage Lane, Morgantown, passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 at his residence after a brief illness.Neil was born in Tyrone, WV on March 5, 1921, a son of the late Charles Shisler and the late Mabel (Spurgeon) Shisler.Neil graduated from Morgantown High School and then served in the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) for two years. After his discharge from the CCC, he served during World War II in the United States Army Air Corp where he received the rank of Corporal.Neil attended the Industrial Training Institute in Chicago, IL. He was an engineer for Rockwell Aviation in Columbus, OH where he retired, and then returned to Morgantown.In his retirement, he, along with his son, built the house in which he lived and passed away. He was a very energetic man who did not believe in wasting time. An avid fisherman and hunter, he was also quite the âhandy man.âHe loved spending time with his family, playing cards with his brothers and sisters and their familes, and attending family functions. He also loved spending time with his dog, Marty, who was his constant companion.Survivors include his wife, Betty Williams Shisler two children, William Shisler of Manning, SC and Barbara MacAdam and her husband Francis Phillip of Kent, OH one brother, Charles Sisler and his wife, Carrie of Fort Mill, SC and two sisters, Deloris Thomas and Celia Bray, both of Morgantown.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George âDebbsâ Shisler and three sisters, Ola Dunn, Marian Keener and Roxy Caroll.Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Sunday, February 20 from 6-9 PM and again on Monday, February 21 from 9 AM until the time of the funeral service at 10 AM with Pastor Craig Falkenstein officiating.
