Obituary of Virgil Maxwell

Virgil R. "JR" Maxwell, 64, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011, at his home.JR was born in Newport News, Virginia on November 28, 1946, the son of the late Ruth Pearl Maxwell. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during the Vietnam War. When he returned home after the service he began working for General Woodworking. He retired from the Board of Education as a custodian at the Cheat Lake School. He is survived by his daughter Geni Wetherson of Eldersburg, MD his granddaughter, Sarah Wetherson his sisters and brothers Ann Obrad, Sue Maxwell, Butch Maxwell, Gene Maxwell, Oakie Spencer, David Maxwell, Bill Spencer and Charolette Davies and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bud Maxwell. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Salli and Dave Huffman for their lifelong friendship with JR.Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Monday, Feb. 14, from 5-6:00p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home at 6:00p.m. with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
