Obituary of Lucy Ellen Vandervort

Lucy Ellen Vandervort, 96, of Worthington, OH and formerly of Morgantown, WV and Stamford, CT, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at Willow Brook Christian Home in Columbus, OH.
She was born in Morgantown on July 4, 1916, a daughter of the late John Paul Vandervort and the late Maucealenne (Forman) Vandervort.
She received her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Chemistry from West Virginia University. She was an Emeritus member of the American Chemical Society and the Special Libraries Association.
Miss Vandevort was employed with the American Cyanmid Company for 40 years. She enjoyed photography, traveling, church activities and spending time with her many friends. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford, CT, and more recently was a member of the Worthington Presbyterian Church in Worthington, OH.
Miss Vandervort is survived by two nieces and one nephew, including Sharon West (Joe Judge), David Wade (Diana), Rebecca Savage (Carl); her grandnieces and grandnephews, Holly Richmond, Heather Webb (Tim), Alexander Judge, Tyler Savage, Darcy Wade, and Grant Savage; five great-grandnieces and nephews; and her cousins, Anise V. Catlett (Gale), Nancy Montague, Edward Dunlap, Krista Catlett Neumann and Kara Catlett Brown.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV on Friday, December 28 from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at-11 AM with Chaplain James Riggs officiating.. Interment will follow in East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the First Presbyterian Church, 1101 Bedford St., Stamford, CT 06905 or to the Willow Brook Christian Home, 55 Lazelle Rd. Columbus, OH 43235.
