Obituary of Barbara Ann DeVaughn

Barbara Ann DeVaughn, 83, a lifelong resident of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born in Morgantown on May 9, 1929, a daughter of the late Floyd Gilbert DeVaughn and the late Margaret Ellen (Wetzel) DeVaughn. She was a graduate of West Virginia University and taught in the Morgantown Elementary School System for over 40 years, spending the majority of that time at Suncrest Elementary School. She was the sister of Richard F. (Fred) DeVaughn and his wife Florence of Freemont, CA, and the aunt of James DeVaughn of San Jose, CA and Christopher DeVaughn of Lee's Summit, MO. She also leaves behind five grandnieces and nephews, Devon, Kaitlyn, Meghan, Jacob and Matthew. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Thursday, January 31st from 6-8 PM. She will be laid to rest beside her parents in the DeVaughn family plot Spencer Memorial Cemetery, Spencer, WV on Friday, February 1st at 1 PM, when the graveside committal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Mrs. DeVaughn's name please be made to the American Cancer Society, Monongalia Unit, 122 S. High St., Morgantown, WV 26501.
