Obituary of Wilda Alzene Elmo

Wilda Alzene Wilhelm Elmo, affectionately known as "Hoppy", 88, of Ohio Ave., Morgantown, passed away 10:55 PM Wednesday evening, March 13, 2013 at Mapleshire Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center of Morgantown, WV.
She was born in Hyndman, PA on March 15, 1924, a daughter of the late Basil Wilhelm and the late Mabel (Shaffer) Wilhelm Squires.
Wilda worked in the housekeeping department of Monongalia General Hospital for more than 30 years. It was there that she received the nickname "Hoppy". Wilda was a former member of the Madigan Avenue Church of Christ.
She is survived by seven children, Larry Elmo, Kevin Elmo and his wife Rebecca, and Jeffrey Elmo and his wife Barbara all of Morgantown, Richard Elmo of Mooresville, NC, Nancy Elmo of Morgantown, Sandra Huisenga of Indianapolis, IN and Barbara Keane and her husband John of Mooresville, NC; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jean Whittington and her husband Bernard of Charleston, WV and Mary Jane Gregory of Morgantown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Felix Elmo, and a brother, Lawrence Wilhelm.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Saturday, March 16th from 2-4 PM, and again on Sunday, March 17th from 12:30 PM until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 PM with Elder Richard Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Cemetery, Morgantown.
The Elmo family would like to thank Mapleshire Nursing Home and Amedysis Hospice Care for the wonderful care that was given to Wilda during her time at Mapleshire. The work that everyone has done is greatly appreciated.
