Obituary of Elmer Charles Gyorko

Elmer Charles Gyorko, 73, of Canyon Rd., Morgantown, passed away late Monday afternoon, March 25, 2013 at Monongalia General Hospital.
He was born November 15, 1939 in Morgantown, a son of the late Stephen Gyorko and the late Susan Rati Gyorko.
Survivors include his three sons, John Gyorko of Morgantown, Dave Gyorko and his wife Kristin of Greensboro, PA and Tim Gyorko of Morgantown; seven grandchildren, Justin Fontenot, and Travis, Kaitlyn, Cameron, Zachary, Bailey and Mason Gyorko; one brother, Brinley Gyorko and his wife Josephine of Florida, one sister, Libby Gyorko Blosser of Morgantown; his former wife. Sandra Bower of Morgantown; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews..
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings, Steve, Bill, Eugene, Ernie, Coleman, Thomas, Alex and Irene Gyorko.
He attended University High School and retired from Consolidation Coal Company's Humphrey #7 mine as a wireman with 32 years of service. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, watching deer, and gardening. He was also a skilled woodworker.
Mr. Gyorko will be remembered as a very kind hearted man and a people person who was very generous and could always make you laugh. Most of all, he was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who adored his grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Thursday, March 28th from 1-3 and 5-8 PM. On Friday, Mr. Gyorko will be moved to the Avery United Methodist Church, 1152 Cheat Rd., Morgantown where he will lie in repose from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Reverend Richard Work officiating. Interment will follow in the East Oak Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Gyorko's name may be made to the Cardiac Care Unit of Monongalia General Hospital, 1200 JD Anderson Dr., Morgantown, WV 26505.
