Obituary of Donald James Tichenor

Donald James Tichenor, 75, of Durham Lane, Morgantown, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born in National , WVon June 23, 1937, a son of the late William Dayton Tichenor and the late Lizzie Bell (Donaldson) Tichenor. Donald retired in 1994 from West Virginia University as a maintenence supervisor. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who always loved spending time with his family.. He enjoyed fishing and attending family reunions. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Frances Hilling Tichenor; six children, Donald James Tichenor, Jr. of Rock Forge, Harold Jess "Sonny" Tichenor and his wife Cassandra of Rock Forge, Michael Edward "Mike" Tichenor and his wife Helen of Rock Forge, Patricia Ann Tichenor and her husband Gene of Canton, OH, Steven Murl Tichenor of Rock Forge, and Sandra Dee Claypole and her husband Brad of Reedsville, WV; 25 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gloria Gaskill of Baltimore, OH and Rita Milliron and her husband Stu of Columbus, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, William Dayton Tichenor; a grandson, Brian Tichenor, and his siblings, Roy Tichenor, Leona Lake, Charles Tichenor, and Phillip Tichenor. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Sunday, April 28th from 3-7 PM. On Monday, April 29th, Mr. Tichenor will be moved to the Nicholson Chapel Church, Summers School Rd., in Morgantown where he will lay in repose from 12 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Interment will follow in the Nicholson Chapel Cemetery. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of Ruby Memorial Hospital for their care and concern during Donald's illness.
