Joseph A. Johnson, 80, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Monongalia General Hospital of Morgantown, WV. Joseph was born in Morgantown on May 4, 1933, the son of the late Joseph Jacob Johnson and Hazel Virginia Smith Johnson. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Shirley D. Kelly Johnson; his children, Richard D. Johnson and wife Christy of Morgantown, Sharon V. Maynard and husband Stan of Woodstock, VA., Robert J. Johnson and wife Patricia of Morgantown; his grandchildren, Joseph D. Johnson of Winchester, VA; Sarah, Kathleen and Laura Maynard of Woodstock, VA; Abraham, Abigail, Isaac, Silas, Agnes, Uriah Johnson all of Morgantown; sister, Donna Biess and husband John of Morgantown and brother-in-law Harley Hershman of Morgantown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Marlene Hershman Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Friday, May 24 from 6-8p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, May 25 from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am with Reverend Tim W. Halloran officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Union Cemetery.
