Obituary of William Larry Marsh
Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William Larry "Bill" Marsh, 67, of Ridgeview Ave., Westover, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013 at his residence after a most courageous battle with an extended illness.
Bill was born in Buckhannon, WV on April 21, 1946, a son of Ida (Hosaflook) Marsh of Buckhannon, WV and the late Marvin Marsh.
In addition to his beloved mother, survivors include his wife, Julia Lakatos Marsh; one daughter, Vicki Marsh and companion Chip Griffith of Aspen, CO; siblings Delores Mayfield of Morgantown, Roger Marsh and wife Lois of Buckhannon, and Sheila Marsh of Buckhannon, brother-in-law, Butch Lakatos and wife Hilda of Morgantown; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert "Bobby" Marsh, and his mother-in-law Sophia Lakatos.
Together with his wife Julia, they founded Marsh's Glass and Mirror in 1972, and currently own Star City Glass and Mirror, a business they founded together in 1990. Bill was a hardworking man. His 49 year career was a pleasure, not a job. He genuinely loved what he did, and it showed in his work ethic and how he treated his customers.
He loved taking care of his family and friends, helping in any way that he could - even if only with a kind word. He respected everyone, was a gentle giant, a gentle man and carried himself with a sense of pride that dignified him as a man. He had such a kind presence.
He loved being outside taking care of his lawn, and enjoyed attending car shows. He loved the older model cars of the 1950's and 1960's.
Above all, his most prized treasure was his daughter, Vicki, whom he idolized.
Relatives and friends are invited to join Bill's family in celebrating his life at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Thursday, June 6th from 4-8 PM and again on Friday, June 7th from 12:30 PM until the time of the funeral service 1:30 PM with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Interment will follow in East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown.
