Robert, I was very saddened to hear of the passing of your sweet Mother. You were truly blessed to have such a dear woman to not only guide you through the ordinary paths of life, but one that embraced art in all forms. Her love of music will live on through you, sir. So remember that if you find yourself contemplating putting away your guitars for good. (Decided to insert a story you told me that still makes me smile. You told me of the time that you were standing on High Street near the Dairy Queen, when you suddenly heard Led Zeppelin playing, really loudly behind you. You turned to see your Mother drive by in a convertible, BLASTING Zeppelin as casually as another woman her age would have played something by Verdi. The shock/pride in your face while telling that, summed up the coolness and beautiful uniqueness that seemed to be your Mom. Someone that would dare you to pigeonhole them. But hang in there, Robert. I'm told that it gets easier, as time passes. I lost my father just this past Feb, so I'm hoping this is true. I don't think it ever completely goes away-that void-but to me, that empty space is indicative that it was a relationship that really mattered. So try to focus on the gifts that she gave you, rather than her loss-whenever you can & try to fill that void as best you can with good memories and knowledge of lessons she taught you. All we can do is to try to live lives that would make our lost parents proud, and allow them to continue on through us whenever possible. Hope you are dealing as good as could be expected, at least. Take care, my friend.
