Twila Virginia Helmick, 94, of Pleasant Hill Rd., Morgantown, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 peacefully at her residence after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.
She was born in Yorkville, OH on February 17, 1919, a daughter of the late Albert Fry and the late Anna (Byard) Fry.
Twila was a Methodist by faith.
She married her husband Willard on August 24, 1935 and moved to their Pleasant Hill Rd. farm where they lived together for 76 years.
Twila was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be truly missed by all. She had multiple talents including cooking, sewing, crafting, singing (especially yodeling), gardening, canning, helping run the home place and raising a family. There wasn't a challenge or task she couldn't conquer.
Her family was blessed with her knowledge, sweetness and loving teachings. Twila was praised by her husband Willard constantly for her strengths and abilities. They were truly the perfect couple.
In addition to her parents, Twila was preceded in death by her husband Willard, who passed away July 7, 2011. She was also the last of her four siblings.
She is survived by four daughters and son-in-laws; Patricia & Ed Cyphert, Dixie & Rich Petro, Sandra & Ron Figiel and Terry & Rick Jones, all of Morgantown who all don't know what they will do without her motherly love; 12 grandchildren: JoAnna, Pamela & spouse, Lee, Donna & spouse Tom, Lori, Eddie & spouse Melissa, Denise, Kathy, Brenda, Ronnie & spouse Kelly, Ricky & spouse Jaime, Samantha & spouse Justin and Sarah Jo & companion Jonas; 27 great-grandchildren; Kayla, Hannah, Maria, Shannon, Frankie, Adrianne, Alexis, Abigail, Eddie, Samuel, Emma, Elizabeth, Henry, Trisha, Michael, Presley, Sean, Philip, Annie, Emily, Blake, Dylan, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Ethan, Twila and Vera Lynn; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Twila's many caregivers; the staff of Amedysis Hospice - especially all of her loving and caring nurses; the American Pharmacy Staff and all of her friends and family for their support.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Thursday, July 25th from 1-3 & 6-8 PM and again on Friday, July 26th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Reverend David Tomer officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Morgantown.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made in Twila's name to Alzheimer's Association of North Central WV, Northern Regional Office1299 Pineview Dr., Suite 3, Morgantown, WV 26505.
