Obituary of Dennis James Parrucci

Dennis James Parrucci, 71, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family. Dennis was born in Chisholm, MN on September 26, 1941, the son of the late Vincent James Parrucci and Mary (Radotich) Parrucci. Dennis got his B.A. in Sociology and History from Duquesne University, and then went on to receive his M.A. in Sociology at the University of Notre Dame. He also attended the University of Michigan as well as the University of Pittsburgh for periods of time to further his education. He taught Sociology at the University of Indiana for a time before shifting his focus to community based long-term health care and welfare, where he has remained focused since. In 2001 he founded Mulberry Street Management Services, Inc. to further his work in this field. Throughout his life he has always been active in health oriented studies, evaluations, and planning. He was proud to have held several different positions on many different boards and committees, including being past President of the Board of Directors of the West Virginia Association of In-Home Services, amongst others. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Sharon A. Hayes; his four children, Caitlin, Vincent, Paul and Michael Parrucci; and his six grandchildren, Kara, Michael, Mia, Anthony, John, and Miriam Parrucci He is preceded in death by his parents. In accordance with his wishes, Hastings Funeral Home has provided cremation services. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, Saturday, August 3rd, from 1-3pm and again from 7-9pm. A celebration of Dennis' life is planned to begin 5:30 p.m. Sunday the 18th of August at Terra Café in Morgantown.
