Obituary of David Sodomick

David Wayne Sodomick, 66, of Louisville, KY, formerly of Morgantown, WV, passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 in Kentucky.
David was born in Jersey City on February 4, 1947, the son of the late Walter Sodomick and Betty (Menear) Sodomick.
David was a Methodist by faith. He loved the outdoors, and spent much of his time golfing, hunting, or fishing. He also thoroughly enjoyed gardening, landscaping, and flowers. He also had a passion for sports and was an avid Mountaineer fan for many years.
After graduating in 1965 from Morgantown High School, he joined the Navy and served during the Vietnam War on the U.S.S. Hassayampa in the Gulf of Tonkin. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked 5 years for Holiday Inns of America as a Office Manager/Bookkepper, then went to work at Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. where he retired after 31 years of service. He also served on the first committee that organized the first union at Mylan. He was also the owner of the Artistic Beauty Salon of Granville during this period of time. Upon his retirement, he moved to Louisville, KY in 2003 to be with his family.
David is survived by his mother, Betty J. Sodomick of Louisville, KY; a son, Brandon W. Sodomick of Rome, NY, who was his pride and joy during his lifetime; three loving and caring sisters, Debbie Sodomick of Louisville, KY, Becky Sodomick Prince and her husband Steve of Louisville, KY, and Dorothy Sodomick of Morgantown, WV.
In addition to his father, Walter, he was predeceased by his brother, Larry Sodomick.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, September 25th from 4-7 pm at the Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown. Visitation will continue in the funeral home on Thursday, September 26th from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am with the Reverend Michael Q. Atkinson officiating.
Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover. Graveside military funeral rites will be conducted by VFW Post 9916 in Westover. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Dave's memory to the Ronald McDonald House, 841 Country Club Dr, Morgantown, WV 26505 or to Hosparus Hospice, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Dr., Louisville, KY 40205.
