Obituary of William Flemming King

William Flemming King, 76, of Cassville, passed away Wednesday night, November 13, 2013 at Mapleshire Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center of Morgantown, WV.
He was born in Morgantown on March 3, 1937, the son of the late William Edward King and the late Alma (McCormick) King.
Survivor sinclude his four children, Kristine E. King of Manassas, VA, James King and his wife Rhonda of Maidsville, Timothy J. King and his wife Anna of Barboursville, VA and William E. King, II and his wife Tonya of Lexington, KY; six grandchildren, Shane, Tara, Alanna, Carter Alex and Aiden King; one great-grandchild; and four siblings, Harry King and his wife Dolly of Osage, Nancy Spicer and her husband Clarence of Pittsburgh, John King of Cassville, and Rick King and his wife Darlene of Cassville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Sandra Boble King on May 13, 2010; and two brothers, James and Gary King.
Bill was a 1955 graduate of University High School. After graduation, he served in the US Army for four years. When he completed his service, he moved to Lorain, OH where he met his wife, and began working for Ford Motor Co.
When he left Ford Motors, he moved with his family back to the Morgantown area and began working for Bell Atlantic / C & P Telephone, where he would retire as a cable splicer after 26 years of service. He served as both Vice-President and President of the Local Communication Workers of America Union.
Bill loved working with his hands and tinkering. He enjoyed being a "snowbird", traveling to Florida and spending his winters there.
He will be remembered a faithful and devoted husband and father who dearly loved his children and grandchildren.
In honoring Mr. King's wishes, he will be cremated.
The family will receive friends for a memorial gathering at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Sunday, November 17th from 5-7 PM.
Inurnment will follow at a later date in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Lorain, OH, where he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. King's name may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation 960 Penn Ave Suite 1000, Pittsburgh PA 15222
