Obituary of Rose Zilkanich Fraley

Rose Zilkanich Fraley, 77, of Woodland Terrace Village, Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 21, 2013 at her residence.
She was born in Morgantown on May 30, 1936, the daughter of the late Stanley Zilkanich and the late Mary (Czogan) Zilkanich.
Survivors include her companion of more than 42 years, Herold Berthy, three siblings, George Zilkanich and his wife Connie, John Zilkanich and his wife Thelma, and Milka Christopher all of Morgantown; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Augustus C. "Gus" Fraley; and eight siblings, Anna, Mary, Stanley, Michael, Julia, Margaret, and Eve Zilkanich, and Helen Christopher.
Rose was a graduate of Morgantown High School. She was employed by the US Soil Conservation Service, retiring after 29 years of service as a budget director. Her intelligence, talents and unmatched work ethic saw her to be promoted several times throughout her career there.
Rose loved the Sabraton area of Morgantown and never wanted to live anywhere else. She enjoyed traveling and loved her cats.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, December 1st from 2-7 PM and again on Monday, December 2nd from 12-1 PM at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday afternoon in the funeral home with members of the Jehovah's witnesses officiating.
Following the funeral services, Rose's wishes for cremation will be honored.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to either the Morgantown Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 379 Smithtown Rd., Morgantown, WV or the Herold Berthy and Rose Fraley Scholarship fund at West Virginia Wesleyan College, 59 College Ave., Buckhannon, WV 26201.
