Obituary of Clayton Duane Friend

Clayton Duane Friend, 70, of, Morgantown, passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 at his home. He was born in Washington County, PA on May 25, 1943; the son of the late Gerald Friend and Hilda Stoker Friend. Duane graduated from Mapletown High School in Mapletown, PA. He was employed by Consol and worked, at Humphrey #7 Coal Mine as a mechanic and retired in 1998. He was a member of UMWA. He enjoyed camping at Big Bear Lake and he was most passionate about classic cars. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandra Kay Gamble Friend; his children, Ronald Friend and wife, Mary of Bobtown, PA; Brian Friend of Morgantown and Jason Friend and wife Michele of Cassville; grandson, Nate Friend of Cassville; brother, Arnold Friend; sisters, Janet Koast and Lana Henderson, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, John A. Friend and Donald Ray Friend. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice and especially Natalie. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, Friday, Nov. 29 from 5-8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Jackson officiating.
