Virginia M. "Tillie" Haden of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013 in the Hospice Care Unit of Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown. She was born in Williamson, WV on June 18, 1918, and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Louisa Zavidic Cikovic. She was preceded in death by husband Samuel Haden; two sisters, Mary Cronin of Illinois and Betty Grau of Ohio, and one brother, Frank Cikovic. She is survived by her two sons, David and wife Sandy of Charleston, WV and Mark and wife Donna of Edmond, OK; a sister Mildred Allen of Florida and brother Paul Carroll of Ohio. She is also survived by grandchildren Allison Haden and husband David Kruetzkamp of Cincinnati, OH, Craig Haden of Scottsdale, AZ, and Emily and Kristina Haden of Edmond, OK, as well as many nieces and nephews. Tillie spent most of her life in Morgantown, and lived independently until recently. She and Sam spent many happy years together and she was at his side during his long illness. Tillie was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a long-time member of Wesley United Methodist Church, and was always thoughtful of the needs of others. During her long life, she volunteered much of her time, and dedicated many thousands of hours to WVU Hospitals. She always wanted to be a librarian, and in her volunteer work, she actually was one. Tillie loved being in Morgantown and having the learning and cultural benefits that a university town provided. She loved reading, was a life-long learner, and had a strong faith. She was loved deeply, and will be missed by her family and friends. A memorial service honoring Tillie's life will be held at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 503 High St., Morgantown on Saturday, May 17th at 11 AM with Reverend Michael Q. Atkinson officiating. Family and friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service from 10-11 AM. Hastings Funeral Home of Morgantown is assisting the family with the arrangements.
