Obituary of Kenneth Eldon Poole

Kenneth Eldon Poole, 78, of the Kingwood Pike, Morgantown, passed away Friday evening, January 3, 2014 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, surrounded by his loving family after a very courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Morgantown on April 22, 1935, a son of the late George and Ethel Dalton Poole. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Janet Dalton Poole; one daughter, Deanna Poole Ammons and her husband Leon of Sistersville, WV; his three grandsons whom he loved and was very proud of, Creed, Garrett and Hayden Ammons; two siblings, George Poole, and Dixie Tomasky and her husband Robert of Morgantown; two nephews, Mark Thomas of Stevensville, MD and Jeff Poole of Morgantown; his father-in-law, Carl E. Dalton of Morgantown; and his ever faithful canine companion, Olivia. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Thomas and one nephew, Randy Poole. Farming truly was Eldon's life. He worked on his family owned farm all of his life. In his earlier years, he and his brother owned Maple Grove Dairy and in their later years, they raised beef cattle together. He eventually passed his love of agriculture on to his daughter. He was a quiet, thoughtful and respectful man who never asked for much. Material things didn't matter to him. Family was the one of the most important things in his life. Eldon will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him, including his extended family of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Tuesday, January 7th from 4-8 PM and again on Wednesday, January 8th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Pastor Rose Saunders officiating.
