Obituary of Lawrence Ray Harmon

Lawrence Ray Harmon, 75, of Arlington, VA, passed away Friday, January 3, 2014 at his residence. He was born September 9, 1938 in Deleware, OH, a son of Mildred Fern (Osmond) Warren of Morgantown and the late James William Harmon.
He was a 1966 graduate of Fairborn High School in Fairborn, OH and served nine years in the United States Army as a Photographer. He especially enjoyed his tour of duty in Paris, France for five years with NATO. Larry also worked for the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and helped invent a device that scrambles aerial photos and messages which is used by the Pentagon today. Larry also worked at the Americana Hotel in Arlington, VA for about 30 years.
In addition to his mother, Larry is survived by his sister, Betty M. Harmon of Morgantown and several cousins in Oklahoma.
The family would like to express their gratutude to his home health aide, Adoma Kamara, who provided very devoted care; his cardiologist, Dr. C. Khurano, who gave Larry the best professional medical and surgical care available in the most compassionate manner; and the Americana Hotel, which was of great help in providing living accomodations.
Cremation services have been entrusted to the Hastings Funeral Home in Morgantown. A memorial service will be held at a later date with interment to follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery.
