Obituary of Cleopatra Roxanis

Cleopatra "Cleo" Roxanis, 84, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, January 18, 2014 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown with her family by her side. She was born in Aliquippa, PA on December 8, 1929, a daughter of the late James Koulepis and the late Irene (Killias) Koulepis. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John Constantine Roxanis and his wife Jennifer of Morgantown; her grandson whom she totally adored, Brandon Roxanis; and three sisters, Koula Proakis of Baltimore, MD, Catherine Drizos and her husband Gus of Monesson, PA and Despina Kaites of Baltimore, MD. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Roxanis on August 3, 2003; and one brother, Sam Koulepis. Cleo was a member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Morgantown, and prior to her moving to Morgantown from Baltimore, MD, was very active in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. She formerly worked as a secretary for the Schaffer Brewing Company in Baltimore and was active at the Monongalia County Senior Citizen Center. In her later years, she loved going out to eat and playing Bingo. Cleo was a completely delightful woman who always had a positive outlook on life. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who truly made her family the center focus of her life. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Cleo's life at Hastings Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 21 from 5-8 PM and again on Wednesday, January 22 from 12 Noon until the time of the funeral service at1 PM with Father David Shaw officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown. Flowers are welcome at the funeral home.
