Obituary of Frederick Joseph Fortney

Frederick Joseph Fortney, 75, of Sabraton Avenue, Morgantown, passed away Thursday evening, January 23, 2014 at Monongalia General Hospital with his son, Allen, and his good friend and neighbor, Bob at his side - joining his beloved wife Betty, son Joe, and mother Wilda. Fred was born in Buckhannon on February 7, 1938. He is survived by a son, Allen Fortney and Mary Ellen; a daughter, Sheila Fortney; two step-sons, Joseph nd Michael Sanders; two step-daughters, Maureena Sanders and Honda Hill; an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister Ellen Rose Plum, and his ever faithful canine companion, Buddy. Fred retired as a machine operator for Sterling Faucet with 30 years of service. He was a NASCAR and dirt track racing fan and loved tinkering with small engines. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Monday, January 27, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and again on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM with Dr. Ken Ramsey officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
