Obituary of John Nelson Fenwick

John Nelson Fenwick, 67, of Dellslow, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 at Monongalia General Hospital surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born in Morgantown on March 2, 1946, the son Pearl Louise Hilling Fenwick of Newburg, and the late Charles Sherman Fenwick. He was also the step-son of the late Don Cooley.
Survivors include his companion of 26 years, Mary Margaret Mays with whom he shared his home; two children, Charles Morris Fenwick and his wife Terri of Ft. Mills, SC and Maureen Taylor of Florida; four grandchildren, Melody and Reuben Heath and Ben and Alex Fenwick; two stepchildren, Lawrence Mays and his wife Monica of Carmichaels, PA, and their children Michael and Katelyn Mays, and Rebecca Smitley Poole and her children, Destinee Smitley, Lacey Poole and Luke Dalton; and his siblings, Charles Hilling and his wife Marge of Georgia, Dawn Fetty and her husband Stanley of Morgantown, and Dale Cooley of Washington state.
In addition to his father and step-father, he was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Cragg Fenwick in 1984.
John was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served for four years.
He retired from the Morgantown Utility Board as a lab worker after 30 years of service. His favorite hobby was CB radios, going by the handle of 760, where he made countless friends nationally and internationally. He collected both CB and HAM radios. John walked everyday on the rails trails below Mellon Chapel, and loved being in the outdoors - camping and fishing.
Family and fiends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 4 PM until the time of the service celebrating his life at 8:30 PM with Reverend David Lee Corob officiating. Following the funeral service and in honoring John's wishes, he will be cremated.
