Obituary of Christine Ann Stansberry

Christine Ann Stansberry's, nee White, soul passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014, at her home, and commands her soul back to our Lord and Savior who gave it. She was loaned to her mother, the late Opal L. White, nee Powell, on May 9th, 1954. Christine was a Christian by Faith, and was guided throughout her life by her strong faith, which gave her strength, hope and peace. She was a former manager of the Pharmacy Department at the Mountaineer Walmart for twelve years. During that time Chris made many wonderful friends and maintained close relationships with her favorite customers. She was a long-time supporter of several charitable organizations, including the Disabled Veterans of America. Chris's generous spirit and faith were a steering force in her family's life. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, the man she loved and stood by, Robert "Bob" Stansberry, Sr. Bob and Chris were married on April 15, 1972 by the Rev. Frank Hilling at the Living by Faith Church in Brookhaven. She is also survived by her son Robert "Bob" Stansberry, wife Valerie Utt and granddaughter Jacklyn Lewis of Morgantown, and her daughter Amy Stansberry, also of Morgantown. Teeney, as she was known in her younger years, is also survived by her loving and caring brother, William C. White, and her "bestest" friend forever, sister Robin L. White, both of Morgantown; as well as several sisters- and brothers- in law and nieces and nephews. She loved being a mama to her beloved children Bob and Amy. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one brother, Glen J. White, her grandparents Joseph C. and Ella Marie Powell; her mother-and father-in-law Howard "Sam" and Margaret Stansberry, as well as three brothers-in-law, David D., Jerry L., and Howard P. Stansberry. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, Feb. 27 at Nicholson Chapel Church, from 10:00 a.m until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Michael Q. Atkinson officiating. Interment will follow in Nicholson Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Nicholson Chapel, 1326 Summer School Rd., Morgantown, WV 26508.
