Obituary of Mary Sauro

Mary Sauro, 91, of Bruceton Mills, WV gently passed into heaven on Saturday morning, March 1, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Barbara Brown, with whom she made her home for the last three years.
Mary was born in Cokeburg, PA on January 18, 1923, a daughter of the late John Gerba and the late Julia Bem Gerba.
She is survived by her loving children, Barbara Brown of Westover, Larry Sauro & wife Sheri of Cheat Lake, Janet Burkle of Harmony Grove, Dennis Sauro & wife Michele of Morgantown, Kenneth Sauro & wife Karen of Bruceton Mills and Nanette Judy & husband Bob of Myrtle Beach, SC; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandson and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Ernest "Bud" Sauro, and her grandson, Nick Sauro both in 2010; five sisters, two brothers; a son-in-law, George Burkle, and her eldest grandson's wife, Mirjana Smith.
Mary was a homemaker and mother of six children. She enjoyed cooking and visiting with her family and friends. Mary also enjoyed her farm in Bruceton Mills where she would entertain her grandchildren and host family reunions. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden.
Those who loved her lost so much from her passing, yet gained so much from her living. She will be sadly missed.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Wednesday, March 5th from 1-3 & 6-8 PM and again on Thursday, March 6th from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM with Reverend Kevin Cain officiating Interment will follow in the East Oak Grove Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions in Mary's memory please be made to Morgantown Hospice, 163 Maple Dr., Morgantown, WV 26505.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to her hospice nurse, Priscilla Rondy and her aide, Carrie Taylor, for all of their support.
